Knee pain affects about one third of us in our lifetime.
It’s a common reason why people seek help from an orthopaedic surgeon, and there are several reasons why the knee causes discomfort.
It ranges form cartilage, meniscus or ligament injuries when we are younger, to a more generalised joint arthritis as we get older. We have multiple strategies on how we can help depending on the underlying cause and associated symptomsÂ

How long do knee replacements last?
Any what age can I have a knee replacement?
There is no age cut off for a knee replacement, but we do know that the more ‘cycles’ we put through any joint, the quicker that joint will wear out. If we put joint replacements in younger more active patients, there will be a higher chance that joint needs changing in the future. This means that surgery is done at the right time for you, trying to preserve your natural joint if possible, but not offering futile treatment when a joint replacement is your best option.Â
